Yes. You may participate in NHDT homes if you are not currently the sole owner of any other properties. 

No. You may only benefit from one NHDT program during your lifetime. 

The NHDT is a privately owned company of the Cayman Islands Government whose mandate is to assist low income families in realizing their dreams of home ownership.

All homeowners will need to maintain their mortgages and related insurance coverages. The associated covenants of NHDT communities also stipulates that homeowners keep their homes in good standing.

Currently the NHDT constructs two and three bedroom model homes.

  1. Be Caymanian or hold Caymanian Status.  
  2. Currently reside in Grand Cayman  
  3. Be of the age required by local banking institutions to facilitate a mortgage.  
  4. Salary range must be within the NHDT criteria
  5. Be currently employed

If you do not qualify for a mortgage to purchase a home under the Affordable Home Initiative, you may be eligible to participate in the NHDT’s Lease to Own program. 

Yes. Applicants income must be within the NHDT salary ranges set out for that specific program.

No. If you are purchasing an NHDT home it must be your primary residence and you cannot be registered as the sole of any other property. 

Applicants may request to purchase a home within any particular NHDT community, however homes are assigned on a first come basis. 

Yes. Under the NHDT Home Repairs Program, eligible Caymanians can apply for home repair grants. 

Applicants who decline to move forward with their NHDT home will be informed that the home will be reassigned to the next prospective applicant. 

The NHDT ensures that all projects are in line with the Cayman Islands building codes and undergo rigorous inspections at all building phases.
